It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the possibility.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her newest gem.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing completely," said Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from that point Healy was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was removed her side needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
