Esteemed Star Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in Seinfeld and The Middle, Has Died at 60 Years Old.

US actor Finn, who was seen in popular programs such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California this Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, according to news outlets.

"Pat never met a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones said in a announcement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

An Extensive Television Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the lead character's sibling.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of hit series, including:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

His most famous role for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His film credits are It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".

Off-Screen Life

Beyond his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a comedy group of six called "Beer Shark Mice".

"He coached, befriended and mentored many learners during his career and it would be difficult to find anyone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.

The actor is survived by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his family.
