This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.

While perhaps not at the same level as granting clemency to Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor conducted a presidential-style act this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with obvious nods to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a current administration.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

The event, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the popular vernacular phrase of young people yelling “six-seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often without clear purpose. The trend became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently made “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: vibrant, varied, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and cafecito as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
